OPEN ORCHARD REVIVAL
This project is for anyone who still believes that music never sounded better than when it was painstakingly recorded by real musicians on tape and pressed to vinyl. For anyone who keeps a vinyl record collection because it just sounds better! Analogue may not be the most popular means of music production, but many of us can agree that it's the best...and most expensive.
This past February, musician Dan Buehner lost his grandmother, Edith Young--a selfless and inspirational woman, and a woman who deeply loved music. Edith had asked Dan and his wife Kiki to come sing for her in her home. Sadly, she left this world before they were able to do so. As a way of making it up to her, Dan put together Open Orchard Revival: a collaboration of musicians from the Trappers and the Folka Dots come together to create a gospel album in her honor. We feel this album belongs to everyone! While the album began as a tribute to Dan’s grandmother Edith, it has become something we feel belongs to everyone. For all of us who carry a sorrow that burdens, who have loved and lost, for all of us who believe in becoming whole through the experiences that create us, this album is for each one of us, religious and non-religious alike. Open Orchard Revival’s old-timey country gospel album “What Are They Doing in Heaven Today?” sways in the spaces between supplications of the sweet and sorrowful to the indebted invocations of untroubled delight. ALBUM COMING DECEMBER 15TH!
